Skye is back in Hopkins ER tonight. This AM she developed a fever and then this afternoon she started having the chills. We called her doctor and he said to bring her in. We thought she might just have the flu, but one of the tests they just did indicates either a UTI or a kidney infection. They’re doing another blood test and a sonogram to get a better bead on things. On the plus side, she feels much better now than she did most of the day.
Please pray we can knock this infection out with antibiotics. We’d like to keep our appointment with Dr. Voight tomorrow if possible and – if she doesn’t pass her kidney stone – the procedures to remove it on Tuesday 12 Feb.
20080207 9:20 PM – just found out that her blood tests indicate no infection which means the infection has probably not gotten all the way to her kidneys which is good!
20080207 10:22 PM – ok, now the drs are saying they think the high white blood cell count is a result of the stone and no infection; they think she might just have a run-of-the-mill virus. Beth and Skye are on their way home (I’ve been watching Li-Li and Chalea). They also say her hydronephrosis looks better.
However, we also found out that Skye not only has a kidney stone in her left kidney but also has one in her right kidney. This is disconcerting though they are saying the one in her right kidney is non-obstructive.
But it now looks like we’ll be able to get a second opinion tomorrow on her complete kidney situation.
